Journeyman Shaun Pruitt signs with Riptide

The Saint John Riptide have signed NBA and international basketball veteran Shaun Pruitt.

Pruitt, a six-foot-10 big man, has seen action for multiple NBA franchises, including the Golden State Warriors in 2009 and the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2011. He has also played internationally in the Czech Republic, Latvia, China, Greece, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Venezuela, Uruguay and the Dominican Republic.

He most recently played for the NBA Development League's Grand Rapids Drive during the 2014-15 preseason, according to RealGM.

The Riptide made the announcement Thursday afternoon.

“Shaun brings low post scoring from a big man that I haven't had in the two years I have been in Saint John,” said Riptide head coach and general manager Rob Spon in a statement. “Shaun can face up and shoot the 15-20 foot jump shot and being very strong he is a rock in the low post on defense.”

The Riptide start the season Dec. 26.
