The Saint John Riptide have re-signed Canadian forward Olu
Famutimi, adding another familiar face to its training camp roster.
Famultimi, who signed with the then-called Saint John Mill
Rats in March, is rejoining the club after making an immediate impact last season. The National Basketball League of Canada veteran had averaged 8.1
points per game, 3.3 rebounds per game and one assist per game in 22
appearances.
Famultimi has also played for the Halifax Rainmen – where he
was an all-star and an All-Canadian – and the Island Storm during his career in
the NBLC. This will be his fourth year in the league.
The Arkansas Razorbacks product and Toronto native also played for the Canadian
men’s national basketball team from 2007-2010.
Saint John has already re-signed many of its veterans from last season. Some of those players include 2012 NBL Canada MVP Gabe Freeman, point guard Jabs Newby and 2016 Defensive Player of the Year Anthony Stover.
The Riptide will be kicking off the 2016-17 regular season on Boxing Day against the Island Storm.
