The Island Storm have announced former NBA Development League player Dane Miller been added to their training camp roster.

Miller, who played for the Oklahoma City Blue from 2014-16, is joining the franchise just in the time for their training camp next month. The six-foot-seven small forward had averaged 7.1 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game in 26 appearances last season.

The team announced the signing through a press release Tuesday.

"At six-foot-seven, he has great size and athleticism and is truly capable of playing and guarding four different positions on the floor," said Storm head coach Joe Salerno. "I think he can be a very good player in this league."

Miller, 26, played collegiately for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights from 2009-13. During his four seasons there, he was known for shooting the ball well and for blocking field goal attempts. He also made the American Athletic Conference's All-Rookie Team in 2010.

He expects there to be an adjustment period when playing in the National Basketball League of Canada. He has had past teammates who have played in the league who mentioned the physicality and playing style differences compared to the D-League.

"From what they've told me, there's going to be an adjustment," said Miller in the release. "Walking into a situation you know nothing about, there always will be one. From any level you need to get adjusted.”

One of Miller's key interests to joining the Storm was the community aspect. He will be going from playing in larger markets such as the State of New Jersey and Oklahoma to playing in a province with  a population of less than 150,000 people. He plans to give the fans some energy and excitement on the floor by playing with a smile on his face.

"Community is a big thing. When you show love to the community, they show it back," said Miller. "I give myself for others and (plan to) show a lot of love to the crowd and my teammates."

The Island Storm will start their training camp on Dec. 8. Their regular season will tip off Dec. 26.
