The Cape Breton Highlanders have added another piece to their frontcourt, signing rookie power forward Rashaun Stimage.

The 6-foot-9, 229-pound big man played his last two seasons of college basketball with DePaul University of the NCAA Division I. He began his college years in the NJCAA with Blinn College and then Daytona State College.

In his most recent season for DePaul, Stimage averaged 5.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game. He also recorded the 16th-most single-season blocks in school history, and he ranked as one of the top shot-blockers in the Big East Conference.

At Daytona State in 2013-14, Stimage averaged 13.9 points and 7.2 rebounds per game en route to first team All-Mid-Florida Conference honors. His team closed the season with the No. 16 junior college rank in the country.

According to Highlanders president and general manager Tyrone Levingston, Stimage drew the attention of head coach Dean Murray, who previously coached in the NBA Development League.

"When watching Rashaun, his potential jumped off the screen, and he possessed a very high motor that you only dream of in a young talent like Stimage," commented Levingston. "With his size, rebounding ability, and high motor, signing Rashaun was a no brainer."

The Highlanders begin their regular season at home on December 27, against the Halifax Hurricanes.
