The Great Falls University product Leon Sutton has been named the first overall pick in the 2016 National Basketball League of Canada Draft by the Moncton Miracles.
Sutton, who competed in Saturday's draft combine, is coming to the organization after playing seven games last season with the Idaho Stampede in the NBA Development League. He also recently played professionally in Brazil.
Mitchell Wiggins Jr., the brother of Minnesota Timberwolves starter Andrew Wiggins, was picked second overall by the Cape Breton Highlanders.
"There was a lot of talent in this year's draft," said Magley. "I would be surprised if I don't see a lot of these kids on opening day rosters and contributing to teams."
Magley said no team had to use the entire three minutes on the clock for their selections. Most teams made their choices within 45 seconds.
Magley felt there were more than 20 players who were not drafted that could easily be in the NBLC.
"I hope they stay encouraged," said Magley. "That's the disappointing thing of 150 kids coming out in two days to try out. There was a lot of guys who could have made the league. With us having two different drafts (the open draft and the All-Canadian Draft in September) this year making it go from three rounds to four, it just made it impossible for us to go deeper and deeper after."
Training camps will start Dec. 1.
